HfH Calaveras has two programs to help families live in decent, affordable housing. The most well known program is building a new home for a qualified Habitat family. Our other program, A Brush With Kindness, offers outside rehabilitation to an existing home owner who cannot otherwise perform tasks such a repainting the exterior of their house. |

How are partner Habitat families selected?
Applicant families must be local residents for at least one year in Calaveras County, living in substandard housing or crowded living conditions and in need of decent shelter before they can apply to Habitat for Humanity, Calaveras. ABWK applicants must own the home they are requesting help repairing or repainting.
HfHC family selection committee chooses homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the mortgage loan or any non-donated cost associated with the ABWK repairs. HfHC follows a nondiscriminatory policy for family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.
Applicants must be financially able to make regular house payments on a low-cost, no-interest mortgage.
Well before we start to build another home, we put out the word for anyone interested in qualifying for the home to send us an application. Watch the local newspapers or visit this website for announcements.
Applicants may also e-mail or phone our office to be placed on a mailing list. They will be notified when the application period opens once again. |
