Helping people repair and maintain their homes fits in with Habitat’s core mission of providing for decent, affordable housing for low-income homeowners while improving neighborhoods and property values.
We are launching our 2020 HomeRepair program right now. As a non-profit builder, HFHC provides quality home repairs at a substantial discount with either a no-interest or very low interest loan. We work with preferred contractors who offer discounts, use volunteers where possible, and often get substantial cost savings on building materials from friendly suppliers.
Our program creates a mutually beneficial relationship between Habitat for Humanity Calaveras and local contractors to provide quality home repairs to low income families in Calaveras County at discounted and affordable prices.
Program Eligibility
Number of adults in household and gross annual income (before taxes):
- 1-4 – $60,250
- 5+ (up to 8) – $79,550
To be eligible for the HR Program, applicants must:
- Own and live in the home to be repaired
- Meet income-eligible requirements
- Reside in Calaveras County
- Intend to live in the house for at least 3-years after the repair
- Own the land the home sits on
- Verify employment, income, credit-worthiness
- Undergo criminal and sexual offender checks
- Be willing to contribute at least 8-hours of sweat equity
Repairs We Can Do
- Home Exterior: siding and trim*
- Gutters: minor repair or replacement
- Air Sealing: caulking, weather stripping doors and windows
- Roof: minor repair or replacement
- Heating & Cooling: minor repair and/or servicing or replacement
- Plumbing & Electrical: minor repair or replacement
- Water Heater: repair or replacement
- Stairs & Stoops: repair or replacement
- ADA Accessibility: door widening, grab bar installation, wheelchair ramp, handrails for porch, deck
